I can’t believe he’s getting married. Let me back up. I come from a family of 5 boys. ”Your poor Mother” I hear nearly every time I tell someone this. I am number 4. And Max, my younger brother is number 5. So naturally, we were all very excited (and a bit surprised : ) as we watched Ashlee fall in love with Max. But what an incredible couple these two make. Ashlee brings out the absolute best in Max, which we are all very thankful for. : )

We used every bit of light on this very hazy and smokey day. Max + Ashlee were naturals in front of the camera. Hope you enjoy.

Idaho Botanical Gardens Wedding | Jennifer + Jonny

In my opinion, Jennifer should host a seminar on how to correctly plan and execute the perfect wedding day. Her organization was immaculate, and she won her way into our hearts by scheduling more than enough time for portraits.The bride and groom were even able to enjoy their day with golfing for the guys and pedicures for the girls the morning before the festivities began. It was the most relaxing and perfectly paced day. That, of course, was done with Jennifer’s careful planning.

But what no bride can really plan for is the atmosphere of the entire day. The overall ambience is not something that can be correographed by the wedding planner, bought and paid for by the ‘father of bride’. It can’t be faked or forged or in any way implemented with the most detailed and careful planning. Yes, this wedding was a DREAM to shoot, but what everyone present FELT that day was beyond even the stunning girl in the gorgeous dress, the ideal location and the beautiful lighting. The overall feel and ambiance of the wedding was pure perfection. Joy.

On their Thank You cards displayed at the reception, Jennifer and Jonny thanked their guests for the ‘love and laughter’ that everyone contributed to that day. I would say that those two words accurately describe the overall experience. Love, Laughter, Romance, Elegance… and an incredibly good time.

Stacia + Mark | Brundage McCall Idaho Wedding

Weddings tend to represent the personalities of the bride and groom and the relationship that they share. The entire day is like a collage, uniting two very different families and synching them into absolute harmony. It brings together two distinct pasts, and blends them into one united future. It fuses two lives together ’til death do they part.’ In essence, it’s the beginning of an incredible adventure.

I don’t know how many times I needed to remind myself to keep shooting, when all I wanted to do was to keep smiling and laughing and simply witnessing the beauty of this day. Whether it was the vivacious dancing of the children; the tender affection between grandparents; the boisterous and enthusiastic celebrations of Mark’s fraternity brothers or the way that Mark would catch Stacia’s eye from across the dance floor. I had a smile plastered on my face the entire day.

Everything about this day screamed ‘Stacia & Mark.’ Serene. Genteel. Graceful. Fun. Peaceful. I have never seen a bride as composed and calm as Stacia was. You could see in the way that Mark held her, in an embrace or in his arms on the dance floor, that their lives together are going to be just as their wedding day was. Perfect.

The Adelmann Building Wedding | Mallary + Jonathan

This wedding makes me happy.

I love seeing families that gel so well together. The day started at Mallary’s home with both Mallary and Jonathan getting ready upstairs in separate rooms, and many family members downstairs laughing and getting to know each other better. It was just one of those really happy, perfect days that kept me smiling till my face hurt. Mallary and Jonathan are the best. I had such an incredible time shooting their wedding. Hope you enjoy!

McCall Engagement Session | Jenny + Ben

I don’t think Jenny + Ben quite knew what they were signing up for when they asked to have their engagement pictures taken in McCall Idaho the day before Jenny’s brother’s wedding. I found a beautiful location in McCall, and had them meet me there. Over the next two hours, I convinced them to meander through forests , wander out onto logs, and venture out onto cliffs overlooking Payette Lake (sorry Jenny!). After seeing the images, I personally think it was definitely worth it! : )

Thank you Jenny + Ben for being adventurous enough to get many of these photos. You guys are awesome, and I can’t wait to shoot your wedding later this year.

Dan + Christa | Leftbank Annex, Portland Wedding

The goal of every photographer is to capture a frame of time, and preserve the emotion felt in that moment forever. Sometimes it is easy… most times it is difficult. Dan and Christa’s wedding day was a mixture of both. It was easy because of the enthusiasm expressed by everyone present. The raw emotion was nearly tangible and it was obvious that the kinds of people that Dan and Christa attract to them, are people just like they are: passionate, vivacious, exuberant, genuine, kind, generous, lovely and loving. Everywhere that we turned, there was a moment to be captured.

It was difficult because no words could ever TRULY or adequately express the love that we witnessed Dan and Christa exchange between each other and between their families. With our hearts in our throats and tears in our eyes, we rode the wave of emotion that day with everyone else.

Luisa and I walked away from that evening in Portland experiencing a number of different feelings and emotions: Joy. Hunger. Fatigue. Love for Dan and Christa. Love for life. Love for God. And a renewed love for each other. Photographing Dan and Christa was a greater experience than we could have imagined. For those of you viewing this post who were not in attendance, we hope that you will enjoy a taste of the emotion from that day. For those of you who were, we hope that it brings back beloved memories. This gallery and the memory of that day has become one of our favorites.

Erin + Brett | Boise Fairgrounds Engagement Session

This is a compilation of 67 images shot with the 85mm at 1.4 stitched together to create a seemingly wide angle shot with extreme shallow depth of field.
