Tammy + Matt | Portsmouth, NH Engagement Session

I’m so excited to shoot Tammy & Matt’s wedding this year in York, Maine.  I had the opportunity to be able to photograph their engagements a few weeks ago in Portsmouth, NH, the town I actually grew up in.  It was great to be back in Portsmouth.  The harbor, the tug boats, the piers, the…

Well hello there!  It’s been a bit of time since I’ve posted on here because I’ve been feverishly working on creating/designing my new website and blog.  I can finally say they’re done!  I’m embarrassed to say that my old website was full of work from 2010 and desperately needed to be updated.  So I gave my website…

Ask Me Anything

Lately I’ve been getting quite a few emails asking me about how I do things.  What gear I use.  How I edit, or lighting techniques.  About location scouting, or about client interaction.  So I’ve finally decided to join something called Formspring, where you can basically ask me anything.  But then the answers stay public so…

Our Trip to the Grand Canyon and Back

Some of you may know that my wife Luisa ran a marathon a few weeks ago.  When she decided to run it at the Grand Canyon, I decided that we were going to make a wonderful, long and adventurous trip out of it.  We drove (from Boise, ID) the entire way and had the time…

Sachin Khona - Oh man, these are amazing. Is there anything you can’t shoot well?

Beautiful Nate!

Really love the one with the flare sunlight and the one of you framed as a shadow.. epicness!

So good!

Congrats to Luisa again on her run! Incredible!

Laura Radniecki - Good grief, Nate. These are unbelievable! I’ve been to most of those places and I dare to say, I think you’ve made them more beautiful than they are in person. Or at least close. The Antelope canyon photos look like Peter Lik’s.

Did you carry a tripod with you on your hikes? Lenses you used for most of these?

You sure are a landscape photographer!

Lynn Demaray - WOW, gorgeous!!! These are amazing!! Love every single one of them. Your view on everything was just great and your images are great!! Love every one of them, how cool to be able to have them to hang in your home!

Nate Perkes - Thanks so much everyone! I appreciate it a ton. And Laura, I do usually carry a tripod with me. It’s a smaller one so it doesn’t weigh me down. Almost all these were taken on a tripod at about f/16-f/22 usually at a pretty slow shutter speed. I think almost every shot in here was taken with the Nikon 17-35 2.8 which is a great lens past f/5.6. Most of the Antelope Canyon pictures were 10-20 second exposures.
